We’re all proud foodies at heart and our friendly, dedicated team go that extra mile to deliver a local and bespoke service to you. It’s no wonder we’re award-winning and the number one contract caterer in the north of England.

But don’t just take our word for it, read on to find out what our lovely Catering Managers had to say about Mellors.

1.)    John, Catering Manager.

John has worked within the catering industry for more than 30 years, with 15 of those being at Mellors.

Here’s what John had to say:

“I enjoy my role here at Mellors. I like being part of a large team and we all get along so well. I have a good working rapport with the Mellors staff, teachers and pupils here which his great.  There is a lovely variety of responsibilities which keeps things interesting because we are a 6th form too, adding in an extra layer. We also provide regular hospitality for meetings and events.

"I feel well-supported from the Mellors team. If I ever have a question, I know I'm able to pick up the phone with ease and speak to another member of staff for help.

"Mellors are different from other contract caterers as we work as a collective team and are more forthcoming in terms of new developments and communication."

Ashton on Mersey School recently benefitted from a marketing refresh within the dining area, utalising Mellors new brand “Food Happy”, which has taken inspiration from the high street to give a more contemporary look and feel.

John commented on the new branding and said:

“I love it, the staff and pupils love it! The colours pop out and I feel the design resonates with the students, contributing to an improved dining experience."

Theme Days are an important added value factor which are a great opportunity to install fun, excitement, engagement and education into mealtimes.

John says:

“Our theme days have a great overall impact. The kids love it and we always get involved to put a smile on the children’s faces. They pull in much larger crowds into the dining area when they’re done right and have a positive knock on effect into the upcoming weeks.

2.)    Anna, Catering Manager.

Anna has worked for Mellors for almost 12 years and prior to this, worked at the same school for a different catering company.

Here’s what Anna had to say:

“Mellors are so much better than our last food provider, they are engaged and we all have a good working relationship.

"At first I was dubious when Mellors took over the catering here but I have been amazed with the level of help and support which is always available. Everyone is so friendly and it makes you feel part of a family.

"As the catering manager I have developed good relations with the school and since Mellors joined, food uptake has increased to almost 600 meals a day! This includes food from the main counter, sandwiches Pasta King and Love Joes."

Anna always ensures to take part in theme events, she adds:

"We have a theme day on most Fridays with Chinese chippy day being a firm favourite! Theme days always drives up school meal intake."

Anna credits her amazing team saying:

“I have an incredible team that works beside me and everyone of them are a credit to Mellors!"

Anna is a great advocate and tech whiz on Mellors new communications app, Grapevine. She says:

“I have been very keen on using Grapevine. It is great to share the pictures of what we have been up to with our colleagues right across Mellors, including the senior leadership team. It makes my day when they respond and post a comment  - it makes such a difference! All in all, working for Mellors is the best company to work for in my opinion. I love a Monday morning as much as I love a Friday afternoon."

3.)    Cassandra, Catering Manager.

Cassandra has worked for Mellors for 8 years and has a true passion for delivering show-stopping theme days which make a real difference by encouraging our young customer explore and try new and varied foods.

Cassandra says:

“Theme days are amazing and I love to make a big deal out of them as I find it really rewarding seeing how happy they make the children.

"Theme days have a big impact on both the staff and children. The staff really go to town and get involved by dressing up and the kids enjoy seeing this.

"We open up theme days to the whole school so no one misses out on the fun, with many moving over to a Mellors school lunch after a theme day because they have enjoyed it so much."
